Custom customer service is the bottom line for Shore Builders Group, headquartered in Brant Beach. Chris Heins, who runs the business along with Tracy Raub – the former in the field, the latter in the office – emphasizes the company is constructed around the specific needs and wants of each individual client.
“We answer the phone always,” said Heins, 48, “and I’m at every job, every day,” to ensure that projects are running smoothly. With Shore Builders, he added, “you’re going to get a higher level of attention.”

Raub was born and raised on the mainland, while Heins summered in Surf City and then moved to Long Beach Island full time in 10th grade. Both are graduates of Southern Regional High School.
The owner of Shore Builders Group is off-scene, so Heins and Raub fully have the reins of the company, and they work hard to guarantee utmost satisfaction for their clients. As Heins remarked, “You have to work hard to succeed in this business.”

For home elevation – which, of course, became a common sight on LBI following Superstorm Sandy – Shore Builders offers a package that includes “architectural/engineering, electrical, plumbing, the house-raising, excavation, masonry, and construction,” says the website. “We also obtain permits and assist filing ICC (Increased Cost of Compliance) claims and applying for grants. We can handle as much or as little as you prefer.”
Because of Heins and Raub’s longtime ties to the Island, they felt even more of an inherent investment in the many homes they were raising and renovating after Sandy, and continue that commitment to help homeowners recover and rebuild.
